1925 Franklin 11-A
| December 24, 2006
This is an early 1925 Franklin 11-A Sedan designed by J. Frank deCausse (1879-1928). All Franklin's had air-cooled engines. Franklin dealers were not pleased with the unconventional looks that the front of early 1920s Franklin had. Since they did not have a water-cooled radiator the front of the cars sloped down and appeared empty and barren or style. Franklin dealers threatened the H. H. Franklin Company that they would leave Franklin and sell other brands of cars unless Franklin's were restyled. The 11-A models were the first to have a false radiator. This made Franklin's resemble conventional water cooled motor cars of the day. This car is the sixth earliest example of an 11-A known to exist. Franklin made cars from 1902 through 1934.
