1960 DeSoto Adventurer
| December 30, 2007
I have owned this fine example of Virgil Exner's "forward look" design for the past seven years. It is original, inside and out, except for one repaint. Powered by a Mopar 383 V-8 with two barrel carburetor, this "Shell White" sedan was the top-of-the line model as evidenced by the bright work trimming the roof posts.
It has power steering and brakes plus Chrysler "Air Temp" factory a/c.
As an automotive journalist, writing a weekly, syndicated column about "collectible automobiles," specializing in the great American automobiles from the fifties, sixties and seventies, this car, with its wonderful fins, is a perfect symbol of the subject I specialize in weekly.
