1959 Cadillac Series 62 six window sedan
| January 26, 2008
I am the second owner. I bouight it in Wisconsin and drove it home. It is an all original 52,000 mile unrestored car (with the exception of new material on the rear package tray). It was never driven in winter or bad weather and kept in a heated garage. The exhaust needs to be redone as the resonators were replaced with tail pipes. I need to get the clock serviced, it works intermittently The dash has no cracks, but is a little distorted with age. It runs and shifts like a dream (if you add 1/3 LL 100 octane aviation gas to each fill up). It drove fine in the east where the octane is 93 and the blend is different, all I did was add lead substitute. Since I have had the car and tinkered with it I learned what a great car I really got. There is no rust, all the wiring is still like new, everything is there and like new. The owner was a non-smoker, so it was never smoked in and all the ash trays and lighters are like new. Believe it or not you can still read the original white factory stenciling on the frame. The rear bumper has some pits in the chrome. The garage was heated, but the door was not insulated and it was only few inches from the door. After watching what people are selling as parts for or a restored "driver" I realized what a great piece of Detroit iron I have. It is not perfect, like a show car, but is probably one of the nicest original sedans in the country.
