1935 Duesenberg Model J Bohman & Schwartz Convertible
| March 15, 2008
All hail another extraordinary Duesenberg. This Duesenberg, in fact, won the BEST OF SHOW award at the Amelia Island Concourse just last week.
This car was originally owned by Clark Gable, who commissioned Pasadena coachbuilder Bohman & Schwartz, to design and fit this beautiful coachwork to a J chassis. The car has a 420 cubic inch I-8 with 265 hp at 4,200 rpm.
Gable worked closely with Designer W. Everett Miller to create this stunning and bold car. The top was lowered to fit the steeply raked windshield, the hood was extended past the firewall to the windshield, and unique air scoops were added to the top of the hood. The sweeping fender lines and the dual rear-mounted spares further lengthened the automobile.
