1937 Adler Rennlimousine Competition Coupe
| March 20, 2008
This car is the only remaining example of the three competition Adler Rennlimousine Competition coupes built. Adler was a German automobile and motorcycle manufacturer which produced vehicles from 1900 to 1957. Adler is the German word for eagle.
This front wheel drive Trumpf chassis aerodynamic coupe was the only 1.5-liter Adler to compete at LeMans and SPA. This car’s successes at SPA and LeMans made automotive headlines and stimulated the creation of several other streamlined competition cars. At LeMans in 1938 LeMans this car, driven by Otto Lohr and Count Paul Von Gilleaume, won its class and finished the race 7th overall.
This beautiful yet odd car has been fully restored to its original specs and was an award winner at the 1996 Pebble Beach Concours D'Elegance.
