1932 Bugatti Type 50T Profile Coupe
| April 10, 2008
This is one of Bugatti’s most attractive designes. BEHOLD!: The 1932 Bugatti Type 50T Profile Coupe.
Designed by Jean Bugatti at age 25, the two door coupe has an unusually steeply raked front windshield (30 degrees from horizontal), a first sign of the increased understanding of aerodynamics. Only two examples were equipped with this factory built body and both were painted in a striking two-tone scheme.
This car was a mainstay in the Harrah Collection for decades until the sell-off in the 1980s. Bill Harrah loved this car and even won Best of Show with this car at the Pebble Beach Concourse d’Elegance in 1964.
The car has a supercharged 8 cylinder, 200 hp engine. The advertised top speed was 120 mph. When new, the car rolled out of the factory with a pricetag of $14,000.
