1934 Brewster Convertible Coupe
| May 6, 2008
The Brewster Company was a custom coachbuilder from 1915 to 1935 in Long Island City, New York. For a few years they built their own complete automobiles, until they were absorbed by the American Rolls-Royce Company in 1925. While under the ownership of Rolls-Royce they designed and build some of the most beautiful-bodied American Rolls-Royce cars of the period.
After Rolls-Royce of America ceased production in 1931, Brewster again began to produce cars for other companies. Now headquartered in Springfield, Massachusetts, the company primarily built special bodies on Buick and Ford chassis.
This stunning convertible coupe was built on a 1934 Ford chassis and everything other than the coachwork is stock Ford. These later Brewsters were noted for their unique, thin heart-shaped grills and distinctive front fender and bumper treatments.
